Jack, I’m sorry you feel you need to defend sound science, and that you seem annoyed by that task. Sound scientific thinking is very helpful in any field or movement. It’s unfortunate that many scientists today are completely divergent from the principles of the scientific method, though your comments indicate sound process. On my end, David Wolfe introduced me to raw chocolate, but I do find it kinda hard to be my normal “chill” self on raw chocolate…it’s just really stimulating!

And that is fine. I am not telling you what you should eat. If it doesn’t agree with you, then fine. It agrees well with me and I will continue to eat it.

  4. mrpower328 says:

Well if thats your choice, then so be it. But raw cacao just don’t agree with me. I Prefer to get my health benefits from berries and teas.

  5. JackNeedles says:

And so many people reating raw cacao don’t feel any negative effects from it. I am one of them. I agree that eating too much of certain foods can be bad, but you have to differentiate between enough and too much. Nevertheless, you still have not explained the scientific mechanisms that would be responsible for any negative effects from cacao. Yes I did. Fruitfly is extremely overweight, therefore her insulin/hormonal levels aren’t properly optimized, so many things could negatively effect her.

  6. JackNeedles says:

No, I am not. I am just sick of all the disinfo going around in the raw food world and someone I guess has to debunk junk science. Any normal person who understands nutrition wouldn’t allow someone to go around saying goji berries are unhealthy with no scientific evidence because 1. the evidence shows that it’s very healthy and 2. people have a good experience with it. The same goes with raw cacao.

  7. mrpower328 says:

Are you in the business of selling Raw Cacao? Just curious.

  8. mrpower328 says:

Ok lets forget about Paul Nision. So many regular people that was eating raw cacao and stopped noticed a difference in the way they felt. The headaches went away and the other affects went away. Did you check out that video on youtube by fruitfly31 called RAW CHOCOLATE………BEWARE!!!.

  9. JackNeedles says:

Furthermore, you or Paul Nison, the guy who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, still have not gone into detail about why or how cacao can be unhealthy. I have a background in microbiology, so I will happily debate either of you or anyone else who calls a food like cacao, which has been associated with good health and longevity in thousands of studies, unhealthy “junk.” Paul Nison also said he used to drink A LOT of coffee. This is probably why. He has major hormonal issues.

  10. JackNeedles says:

Also, just because YOU don’t react well to raw cacao doesn’t mean I or someone else will don’t feel bad nor is there any crash. So, if I can get the number one source of antioxidants while doing that I will. Now, just like with coffee – although cacao & coffee are totally different – if you have weak adrenal glands and other hormonal problems then you shouldn’t eat too much cacao, but that’s because you have hormonal issues, not because cacao is unhealthy.

  11. JackNeedles says:

Once again, Paul Nison does not know what he is talking about. I have already watched all of his videos on raw cacao (it’s not called raw chocolate) and he just makes unfounded claims like “raw cacao is bad for you” without going into scientific detail about it. There is too much of that in the raw food world. Raw foodies today ( coming from one who is into living foods) need to have more discernment and not just go trusting some idiot who makes unfounded claims.

  12. mrpower328 says:

Either you sell Raw Cacao, work in the business, own a factory, addicted to Cacao or your just in deep denial that this stuff is no good for you. Paul Nison is not the only one that knows that raw cacao is toxic. I’ve had my own experience with this stuff and it wasn’t good. Many other people eliminated this stuff from their diet because it just didn’t make them feel good. Check out a video by fruitfly31 called RAW CHOCOLATE………BEWARE!!! on youtube.

  13. JackNeedles says:

You don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve debunked Paul Nison’s (who is neither a doctor or a scientist) unfounded claims that cacao is somehow ‘toxic’. Every single claim he has made is unfounded and unsubstantiated. There is no science to back up his claims. Period. Raw cacao is one of the healthiest foods in the world, hundreds upon hundreds of studies already show this. Paul Nison is simply an uneducated man on a power-trip. He is one of many spreading disinfo in the raw food world.

  14. mrpower328 says:

Google this (Paul Nison raw cacao) or raw cacao is unhealthy.

  15. avaleila says:

What do you mean? I thought cacao was good for you as it high in antioxidants.

  16. mrpower328 says:

I know better are gonna still eat this stuff anyway no matter what the facts are. But I say if you want powerful Antioxidants just get it from berries, green tea, rooibos tea, yerba mate, etc.

  17. quasim0do says:

Well, it has toxins in it, true. But regular cacao is a lot more toxic, so if you are going to use cacao it’s better raw.

  18. mrpower328 says:

Raw Cacao is Toxic. Stay away from this stuff.

  21. NewYawkCity says:

I always thought making raw chocolate was a time-consuming, complex process. Thank you for showing us how simple it really is.

  22. heloise9 says:

    Samantha is a natural! :)

  23. Juberoos says:

Making natural foods is a great way to stay healthy. But using silicone cups is defeating that purpose. Plastics leech into foods that they hold. Stick to glass or stainless steel.
