Dipping fresh and lush strawberries into luciously melted chocolate has been a popular snack or dessert for many years. Strawberries are a real treat in themselves as is chocolate, but chocolate covered strawberries are simply divine!

No one could trace when chocolate covered strawberries were first practiced or discovered, but the popularity of this combination makes it a great tidbit to have at parties and events.

If you wish to serve these yourself, you will be surprised with how easy it is to prepare this delicious recipe. You can produce amazing results that your family, friends and guests will sure to love and there are many different ways you can present your strawberries including dipped in dark, milk or white chocolate, adding sprinkles after they are dipped and even piping in designs like squigglies and even little tuxedos on the chocolate layer!

But, if you don’t have the desire to do a lot of decorating, they can still look great with little effort since with fresh and whole strawberries, they can look good just by themselves. They do not only taste great, they also look good enough to serve right after the preparation. Just a little arrangement for symmetry and they’re good to go.

For preparing a dish of chocolate covered strawberries , you would need thirty strawberries, preferable fresh and large with stems still intact; six ounces or one half cup of chocolate chips or chopped chocolate of your preferred type and taste; one half cup of heavy cream; and three tablespoons of butter.

It is best to prepare the materials that you will be needed. First, prepare a baking sheet (or two) to fit all the strawberries in. Line it with wax coated paper or foil to avoid getting the strawberries stuck to the sheet. Prepare a pot with just the right size to be used for melting both the butter and the chocolate chips or chocolate bits.

Combine the butter, cream and chocolate bits in a boiler over hot, boiling water. Stir the mixture until all of the chocolate has melted into a creamy texture or until you are satisfied with its fluidity. After 10-15 minutes, or until all the chocolate, cream and butter have melted into one, dip the strawberries into the mixture one at a time.

A little amount of chocolate might drip after the dipping. Allow the excess mixture to drip back into the boiling plan. Place the strawberry, now coated with creamy chocolate, in the baking sheet and allow to cool. Repeat the steps for the rest of the strawberries. You can prepare more chocolate mixture with the same ratio as the ingredients aforementioned if you wish to prepare more than thirty chocolate covered strawberries.
